Unlike most other body armor, hard armor is light enough to allow easy mobility. Its construction is usually composed of plates made of steel, ceramics or composite materials and is interlocked with other body protection such as vests. This internal plate construction is very strong, increasing the protection it provides to the user. Its advantages include high comfort, greater maneuverability, and enhanced protection.
